open letter to google

re: recent changes to igoogle
you have ruined my previously awesome homepage.
i know you guys have good intentions, HOWEVER:

  • you have made all gmail links open within the homepage. this is frustrating for people who use the ‘back’ button on their browser. just because AJAX exists doesn’t mean you need to utilize it.
  • this is also frustrating for my mom, who doesn’t understand why her back button won’t work. she expects me to do something about this, as i usually make her computer problems go away. but there’s nothing i can do. this one’s all you, google.
  • this in-homepage version of gmail is watered down to death. i can’t apply labels, my signature doesn’t show up. links don’t work. it’s just too incomplete! were you guys in a rush or something?
  • the ability to expand/collapse modules has become so clunky it’s also considered useless to me. it takes multiple clicks and is dangerously close to ‘delete module’.
  • please give us the option to use the older version of igoogle until you guys actually complete this.
