Ben would point out what part of it [his painting] that he liked the most, give himself a pat on the back for being so progressive and drop all of the standard cliché art words.
from a reaction paper that i’m writing on a recent artist lecture at school. this guy came in, went through a slideshow of all his paintings with flat descriptions, and occasionally did the above.
what were we supposed to get out of that?
