tumblr support failed. can you guys answer my question?

(paraphrased, except for tumblr’s response)

me: hi, i’m currently developing a tumblr theme and i believe i have been IP banned. i was using the static asset uploader and setting up a test account with dummy content. my development is currently halted, can you give me any information? (explained that i restarted browsers, tried phone, tried wireless, tried wired, tried different computer etc and yet was able to hit tumblr via a proxy)

tumblr: Does restarting your computer and your modem/router help at all?

i wrote back two three more times asking for answers about my initial questions, as i would like to continue working on this theme and have this not happen again. (it’s very likely my behavior triggered a flag or some shit) - google returned anecdotes of others who actually were spamming and received a similar ban.

about 20 minutes after creating the test blog and uploading assets, as i was transferring my static code to tumblr tags, i started getting “server not found” for ANY url on tumblr.com. other people were able to hit it, my internet was working fine (even streaming video) and so were other websites etc. (by the way, i tried releasing/renewing my IP and restarting my computer. come on, i work in IT.)

never received another response. never had any questions answered, or even addressed for that matter. the next morning, i still couldn’t hit tumblr. so, i travel to NJ, celebrate easter with my family and return home. without rebooting, clearing cache OR restarting my browser- i am suddenly able to hit tumblr again.

any thoughts/theories or similar experiences?
