lol @ this chart and the statement that was made with it.
while yes, HTML is a markup language (not a programming language) its importance is relevant to both front-end and back-end developers. you like working with shitty HTML? how about tables? yeah? then don’t knock the person who writes your markup.
additionally, a mastered understanding of HTML and CSS does actually utilize logic much more than most back-end devs would ever assume. that’s right, i said logic. and to be even more badass, we create logic without if-statements. so honestly, suck it if you feel this way and think it makes you more…. i don’t know- powerful? elitist? ULTIMATE DEV POWER?
hey PROGRAMMERS- do you understand float theory? CSS specificity? can you utilize the cascade to knock out 1/3 of your needed rules? how about media queries that use the cascade to create truly-fluid layouts? how about 4 different page designs in one, modestly-sized CSS file that handles a range of viewports?
nah, you’re probably still stuck on position: absolute. it’s ok though, that’s what you have us for. you know, us stupid non-programmers.
one day, both sides really will play nice, respect the knowledge and experience of the other team, and we can all move on with our webdev-lives.
