the frog and the swan
an… interesting short play by dr. langs, pioneer of the communicative approach. this exchange resonated strongly with me, although i can’t articulate exactly why.
michael is a past patient and lover, connie is a psychoanalyst. she was ‘tricked’ into meeting him for a date.
michael: a toast. to frogs and swans, may they turn out to be princes and princesses.
connie: to frogs and swans… may they have the courage to accept the fact that all they are, are frogs and swans.
