hooksandkittens asked: how did you make the flowers for your scarf with pockets?
it won't let me click through the link, and i really want to learn to make those adorable things!
that’s because i messed up the links :) (they’re fixed now) i re-wrote the pattern for you, though. (in human language!)
- chain 4, join to make a tiny little ring.
- chain 2. then make 9 single crochet stitches around the ring itself. (might be a tight squeeze)
- slip stitch into the 2nd chain you made in the last step.
- for each petal: chain 2, double crochet into first stitch. then half-double-crochet into the same stitch. close it off with a slip stitch in the next stitch. this whole thing should take up 2 sittches total. work around the flower.
- you should end up with 5 petals. slip stitch and finish it off.
i’ve been expanding on this like crazy. there are two ways to make larger, ruffly flowers from this base pattern (excellent for stacking!)
- keep repeating the petal pattern going all the way around. you should be able to work two new petals into a single one. this makes excellent medium + large sized flowers.
- make 3-stitch chains going between the high and low points of the flower. (chain 3, slip stitch) and then in the next round, single crochet around them.
hope this helps!
