my first cowl!

i only fucked up like, three of these before getting it right!

if you want to make your own, here’s how you do it:

  • i used lion’s brand worsted weight yarn, because it’s cheap/really soft, and a size H hook.
  • this pattern is worked in the round, so keep going in a spiral and don’t turn your work.
  • chain 64. starting in 2nd chain from hook, half double crochet (hdc) forever and ever until you’re happy. i used almost the whole skein for this one.
  • the nice thing about working in the round is that you can try it on as you are working, for an extra perfect fit!
  • if you want to get crazy, like i’m going to, you can crochet a trim around the top and bottom using *extra* soft yarn. google can assist you from here.

and, something i learned this morning: if you are impatient like me and need to tie in an end immediately, you can use your crochet hook to pull the yarn through in each direction. yay!
