a note about information design
this image, a small part of a larger diagram over at brand new, could be made twice as meaningful by making both columns a consistent timeline, so that years match up. this way anyone viewing can easily compare the status of the two companies during the same year.
this would be a simple white space adjustment, and other similar actions transform an image from telling you a sentence to telling you a story.
