apparently that ambigram i made a couple of years ago naturally tessellates a bit. so of course i had to see how 1,400 square pixels of this looked. (it looked awesome) and i got to name a photoshop layer “the outer niks”. more on ambigrams: ambigrams are words/phrases that can be read from more than one direction. the image above is a rotational ambigram, which can be read when rotated 180°. typographic doppelgängers great article on what makes an ambigram work and the process of creating one. jon langdon is known for created the set of ambigrams in dan brown’s angels and demons. he also offers information and advice on how to approach and construct them.

epic craft supply find: limited edition 3mm washi tape by mt. they are just under 1/8” wide and extremely delicate, but oh so very handy. this means no more cutting tape strips1 in half! this is an extremely difficult and frustrating task, i would not recommend it. it also requires a bottle of goo gone and/or coated scissors. ↩

There is no adequate word in English to capture this complex entanglement of humans and technology.
