“Primordial Deities of the Internet Meeting”
this is how my old boss says hi and gets all his friends together:
Hello Web Brethren,
Our servers are overheating and it is time for a cool drink!
amen to that!
ugh, really? almost $2,300 dollars to possibly annoy some oil-obsessed businessman?
why is this money not going DIRECTLY to dealing with the oil spill? or the people who are living where it is RAINING OIL. or cute ducks covered in death or whatever. it is raining fucking sludge and people are pooling their money to buy some instruments and try to annoy these guys who will probably laugh at the frivolousness of those pointing their fingers.
wow, i am just blown away over here. priorities, people?! yes, they are donating one thousand of it to the right place- but what about that other thirteen hundred? that is serious money to spend on ‘annoying’ these people for one or two moments.
i approve of this
- jess: nicolor
- jess: that should be your name
- jess: because you love colors
- jess: i just saw your effing nails and matching tanks
technically, you’ve won the game.
wait all of your life
to find a thing
or a few
and a person
for new,
for you.
finally finding the feeling
you needed to know you could feel
you found your right
and built your world
and with a ring you sealed the deal
what do you do
when where did they go
and the feeling's still there
manifesting alone
but you're all out of luck
and things, the few.
that person,
and time,
to wait
for new.
for some reason, i read this slowly, loosely translating open space to pauses. i’ve also been trying to loosen up my language with this kind of stuff and not freak out so much about syntax. still not really sure whether i suck at this or not, but it’s something i’ve been drawn to since i was young. on a final note, i love that i associate text editors with both code and poetry.
various quotes and contemplations on the poem, we real cool. it’s like, eight lines long. you have no excuse not to read it. and keep this in mind when you do:
The “We”—you’re supposed to stop after the “We” and think about their validity, and of course there’s no way for you to tell whether it should be said softly or not, I suppose, but I say it rather softly because I want to represent their basic uncertainty, which they don’t bother to question every day, of course.
things need not be complicated to be profound. this poem consists of 24 single-syllable words. (36 syllables if you count the setting)
you can also listen to a performance (i guarantee it will be nothing like what you read to yourself) along with some context on the same page.
